Formas
Formas, the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning, is a governmental research-funding agency related to the Ministry of the Environment. Formas encourages and supports scientifically significant research related to sustainable development. The projects supported cover a wide range of approaches from basic research to more applied efforts. Within the built environment also demonstration and experimental projects are supported. Formas stimulates activities aiming at cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary approaches within its area of responsibility. The Research Council provides mechanisms for the communication of research results and stimulates the public debate on issues of concern, originating from or related to research for sustainable development. Formas represents Sweden in several IEA programmes and annexes and promotes Nordic research co-operation within its areas of responsibility.
The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth
The aim of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth is to work to achieve more enterprises, growing enterprises and sustainable, competitive business and industry throughout Sweden.
Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth operations include the areas of responsibility previously belonging Nutek and the Swedish National Rural Development Agency as well as the Swedish Consumer Agency's tasks concerning commercial and public service.
The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, in collaboration with Swentec, is commissioned by Sida to run DemoEnvironment. The objective is to support environmental technology efforts to achieve sustainable urban development and renewable energy. The support is targeted at developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern and Central Europe.
DemoEnvironment is a grant offering support for modern environmental technology solutions in the areas of sustainable urban development and renewable energy.
DemoEnvironment gives the recipient countries an opportunity to test modern environmental technology solutions and makes it possible for companies to demonstrate their knowledge and products.
The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems
VINNOVA (The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems) is a State authority that aims to promote growth and prosperity throughout Sweden. Their vision states that “VINNOVA makes a clear contribution to Sweden’s development as a leading growth country."
They do this through the funding of research and development projects for the business and industrial sector and work to strengthen the networks critical for this field.
The Government has assigned VINNOVA to, among others,: contribute to making Sweden a leading research nation in which research of high scientific quality is conducted; promote sustainable growth and increased employment by acting to increase competitiveness and the emergence and expansion of successful companies; support research and development work of the highest quality in areas such as engineering, transport, communications and working life in order to promote renewal and sustainable growth; stimulate Swedish participation in European and international R&D collaboration and in the exchange of experience in the field of innovation.
The Swedish Energy Agency
The Swedish Energy Agency operates in various sectors of society to create conditions for efficient and sustainable energy use and a cost-effective Swedish energy supply. They are experts in energy related business development and support research and development opportunities that aim to increase the competitiveness and commercialization of products and services on the market. The agency supports the achievement of the national climate targets and ultimately promotes the smarter use of energy to minimalism the social and ecological impacts of the energy sector.
